Gerry Sawyers

Gerald Erle Sawyers passed away peacefully in the Canmore Hospital with his loving wife Lil by his side.

Gerry was born in Brandon, Manitoba but spent most of his life in Calgary and Canmore. He had a weekend place in Canmore for a number of years and moved to Canmore permanently in 1978.

Gerry worked for Coldstream Industries, started and ran Sawyers Agencies, and was the President of Astro Energy Systems. He loved the mountains and was a lifetime member of the Canmore Golf Club.

He was also a long time member of the ACT/UCT Society.

Gerry was the third oldest of four children. He was predeceased by his father Clarence, mother Jessie, aunt Lilla and husband Walter, brother Ted and wifeIda Sawyers.

He is survived by his loving wife Lil, daughter Sue (Mike), grandchildren Leanna, Kurtis and Kevin, Brother Bob (Glady), Sister Joan (John) and nieces and nephews Brian, Barbie, Bill, Laura, Stephen and Patrice.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hawkins, Dr. Sinclair, Carla (wound care specialist) and the kind and supportive staff at Canmore Hospital for their compassion and care.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to remember Gerry, may make donatons, in his memory, to the Canmore and Area Health Foundation, 1100 Hospital Place, Canmore AB, T1W 1N2.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 21, 2012

in St Michael's Anglican Church hall in Canmore.
