It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Alexander Souter, at the age of 79 years. He passed away on April 18, 2013 with his loving wife and best friend, Claudette, by his side.
George was born outside of Naicam, Saskatchewan and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, as a radar technician, straight out of high school. He mentioned recently that he felt privileged to see what he did of Canada and the world. Once George discovered the Bow Valley, Banff and Canmore became his home. He worked in electronic repairs, eventually owning his own business Adam's Electric Repairs until he retired in 1995. George was known as a man who could fix anything.
George is survived by his wife, Claudette, whom he was together with for over 50 years; younger siblings Don, Betty and Jim (Nellie); his children Sandy (Bob), Patty (Glenn), Gina, Lyle, Kirby, Scott (Cheryl), Heather (Brian), Laura and Faye; as well as countless grandchildren and great grandchildren. George cherished his family and wanted them all to know that his love for them is eternal.
A memorial service for George was held on Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Our Lady of the Rockies Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Canmore; Tributes followed at the Royal Canadian Legion - Branch # 3 in Canmore. Interment will be in Naicam, Saskatchewan at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the numerous doctors and caregivers for their concern, dedication and friendliness, with a special acknowledgement to the staff at the Canmore Hospital.
We love you dearly and will miss you always.
