Gail Iverson, 76, of Banff Alberta, passed away peacefully on
April 8th, 2023. She was born April 29, 1946, to George and Hazel Litterick, and is survived by her partner Barry Kelly, her sons Brent (Brianna) and Jeff (Kristine), and her beloved grandchildren Kennedy, Jersey, Brooklyn and Cooper.
Born in Edmonton, Gail grew up between the cities of Edmonton and Calgary, following her father's career. She has many fond memories of her childhood in both cities, with her cousins in Calgary and friends that she stayed in touch with her entire life.
Gail graduated high school in Edmonton and moved to Jasper where she worked at the Jasper Park Lodge. This is when she fell in love with the mountains and eventually ended up moving to Banff where she spent the rest of her life and raised her two sons.
Gail was a kind and genuine person, who possessed a natural ability to relate to people from all walks of life. She was proud to be a Banff "hockey mom", and would enjoy lunches and get-togethers with her fellow hockey moms reminiscing and telling stories.
She spent the majority of her career working for the Banff School Board in payroll and administration, a job she loved and through which she developed many close lifelong friendships.
Gail truly loved living in Banff, appreciating the mountains, the forests and the wildlife, each, and every day. She never missed a chance to tell you how nice the mountains looked on any given day, eagerly awaiting the first snowfall of the year, or the first day of spring. She enjoyed the wildlife in town and the visits to her yard by the local deer and elk, even naming a couple of the regular visitors.
Above all else, she loved her grandchildren. She was very proud of each of them and loved to talk about them with her friends. They were truly her pride and joy.
We wish to thank Dr. Shigeishi and the staff at Banff Mineral Springs Hospital as well as the team at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for providing exceptional care. In lieu of flowers donations can be made
to the SPCA.
