Frances Dyrgas-Love passed away peacefully at the Canmore Hospital on Saturday, July 06, 2013 at the age of 83 years surrounded by her loving family. Frances was born in Canmore, AB on December 2, 1929 where she lived and worked her entire life.
Frances loved all sports, especially figure skating, something that she was very good at as a child and watched religiously throughout her life. She could be found pounding on the plexi-glass and yelling obscenities at opposing hockey players at the old hockey arena until it closed. Frances could also be seen all around town where she took any chance she had to take long walks whenever she could until her legs let her down. She loved baking and cooking for her family and made the best donuts and cabbage rolls in the world from scratch. She was also a pro at making pickled pigs feet at Christmas time that always seemed to clear out the house.
As a young lady Frances lived life to the fullest. She met the love of her life, Almer, and after more than one ride on his motorcycle, married in March 1951. They were married for 58 years when Almer was taken from us from the insidious disease Alzheimer's. Frances has now rejoined Almer and together will be watching over all of us.
Frances is survived by her adored children Regena (son David (Michelle), Chris (Wendy), Greg (daughter Stephanie) and Ron (Lisa); sisters Pauline, Caroline and Elsie; brothers Frank (Barb), Leon (Vera); cherished grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Frances was predeceased by her father Frank and mother Rose Gilowski, loving husband of 58 years Al (Almer), sister Mary, and brothers Mike,
Joe and Tony.
Frances will be truly missed by family and friends. A celebration of Frances life was held on Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Canmore Seniors Centre (600B – 9th Street). Flowers are gratefully declined.
