Erling Pedersen of Lake Louise passed away peacefully at age 89 at
St. Martha's Place, Banff Mineral Springs Hospital, in the mountains he had called home for the past 60 plus years. He is survived by his daughter Jane MacAulay of Bluffton , Alberta and his son Jack Pedersen (Lana) and 3 grandchildren Amanda, Cody and Caitlyn Pedersen and extended family.
Erling was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Anna Magrethe ( Ann) in 2006, and both of his siblings.
Erling and Ann were both born in Denmark and came to Banff in 1955 and worked at Becker's Bungalows. From there they went on to be partners in Paradise Bungalows at Lake Louise with Bill Vollrath. They eventually bought Bill out and carried on with Paradise. Here is where they raised their family and their son's family continues to carry on with the business today.
Erling had a strong love of the mountains and enjoyed calling them home. He and his wife were also fortunate to travel and enjoy retirement time at Fairmont, BC. Dad remained very active until the last couple of years of his life.
The family would like to express deep thanks to Dr. S. Shegeishi and staff of St. Martha's and also those from Cascade House, for the care and comfort of Dad.
At his request, a private family graveside service was held at
Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Calgary where he was laid
to rest with Anna.
Friends wishing to remember Erling are encouraged to make a donation, in his memory, to Banff Mineral Springs Hospital,
P.O. Box 1050, Banff T1L 1H7 or the charity of one's choice.
