Elizabeth Helen Child, fondly known as Betty, passed away peacefully on October 8 2024, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 74. Born on July 22, 1950, in Banff, Alberta, she lived and worked most of her life in the Bow Valley until her retirement when she moved to Okotoks to be closer to her family. Betty’s life was characterized by her commitment to her family, her work, and her deep love for animals.
Betty attended SAIT where she honed her skills as a legal admin secretary. Her personality shone through in her organized and detailed approach not only in her career but also in her daily life, endearing her to colleagues and friends alike.
Above all, Betty was a proud mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son Conal (Raelene) of Okotoks and her cherished grandchildren Taya of Vernon, BC and Bradyn (Tia) of Okotoks. She also leaves behind her brother Ed (Erin) as well as many dear friends.
Betty was predeceased by her devoted husband, Greg Child, in 1993, as well as her brothers Wayne and Billy, and her loving parents, Elizabeth and William Wakaryk.
Honouring Betty’s wishes, there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local S.P.C.A.
Special thanks to Steve, Roxanne, Clair, Jordynne, Jaselyn, Bradyn and Tia, who were always there to support Betty.
