A long time resident of Canmore, Eleanor Edna McRory passed away suddenly the morning of August 16, 2016, three weeks before her
90th birthday. She was predeceased by her husband Jack McRory,
her sisters Marion and Margaret, and her daughter Darci McRory.
She is survived by her sister Winnie (Jim) Henderson, her son
John (Cathy) McRory, her daughter Marni (David) Mahar, and her grandchildren Shane and Kate Mahar and Steven Drysdale.
Originally from Winnipeg, Eleanor raised her family in Calgary and then moved to Canmore once the children were grown. The mountains became the focus of her passion for oil painting with her finished canvases happily filling her home. Eleanor loved Canmore, and was able to live independently in her home with the generous care and support of the community.
As was her wish, cremation has taken place and no formal funeral
service or celebration will be held.
