Eleanor Ganes

d. July 7, 2017

A 55+ years resident of Canmore and the Bow Valley, passed away tenderly and peacefully on Friday July 7, 2017 in the Chinook Hospice, Calgary after a year-long battle with cancer.

Eleanor Louise Miller was born in southern Ontario 77 years ago to her parents Nelson and Louisa. Looking for adventure, Eleanor bravely got on a train by herself at the age of 21 and ended up in the beautiful town of Banff where she worked at the Banff Springs Hotel and the School of Fine Arts. Not long after arriving in Banff she met her future husband to be, Murvyn Ganes at the local bowling club.

After a short couple of years living in Calgary and giving birth to their

twins Jennifer and Stephen, Eleanor and Murvyn moved to Canmore and for 43 years made this their permanent residence.

Eleanor never drove a car, so you would always see her walking everywhere, rain or shine. For her, The Most important walk of the week was to her job at the St. Michael's Anglican Church. Being a devout member, Eleanor proudly helped to keep the church sparkly and clean. Forty years of this job kept a spring in her step and gave her great pride. After her weekly clean, she would make her way over to the senior's centre where she would hang out with her friends playing cards, lawn bowling, and many other activities.

Her luck at games was amazing!!! If you ever played against her,

expect 'not' to win. She always did.

Eleanor leaves behind a son Stephen, daughter Jennifer, granddaughter Santeria, grandson Tristan and son in law, JF
