Eila Dyrgas

d. March 26, 2014

Eila Hazel Dyrgas (nee Neimi) passed away on March 26, 2014 at the age of 84 years. She is joining her husband of 63 years,

Mike Dyrgas in heaven.

Eila met Mike in Canmore when she was 14 years old (he was 18) and they were married 5 years later. They both will be missed by their only son Darrel (Jodie) of Canmore, granddaughters Parise of Calgary and Destiny of Edmonton and extended family galore.

The Bow Valley has been Eila's home for all her life but for a few short years in Vancouver as a small child. These mountains were the back drop of her life where she served her community proud. As a Finnish ambassador to the Finland x-country ski team in the 1988 Olympics, to working at Marra's Grocery for 25 years, raising 8 dogs (5 Irish Setters), 2 horses, fish, turtles and any animal that needed a hand.

Eila wanted to express her gratitude for the wonderful care she received from the nursing staff at the Canmore Hospital with a special mention to Dr. J. Michalyshyn who some years ago saved one of her Irish Setter's life with some unscheduled doctoring and for 25 plus years of family care. She was especially touched by the number of visitors from the community, family who traveled or just popped by and dear friends who all gave her the most beautiful gift of time to mark our connections in love and life.

Eila's light has not dimmed for those who love her, she lives on in our hearts and dreams. She will be missed by all she touched.

May she rest in peace.

Eila faithfully supported charities dear to her heart: WWF, SPCA, Wildlife Federation, Peta, IFAW and Cancer Society. For those who may wish to remember Eila, please make a donation, in her memory, to any charity that will enhance the lives of animals and pets.

A family memorial will be held in the Spring when Eila and Mike

will be laid to rest together in the Canmore Cemetery.
