It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Edith Mabel Ritchie (nee McKillican), of Canmore, at the age of 98. Edith suffered a courageous battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at the Canmore Hospital on September 9, 2011.
Edith was born in Delisle, Saskatchewan, moved to Millarville in 1949, and then to Canmore in 1951 where she spent the rest of her life. She leaves behind three sons and two daughters: Gerald Ritchie (Aileen), Joyce Sehn, Dorothy Biggy (Eric-best friend), Bev Ritchie (Shirley-best friend), and Ken Ritchie (Pat). Edith was proud of her 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She also had a sister, Mary, who is 96 years old. Edith was predeceased by her loving husband, Roy, in 1989, her brother, George, and her sisters, Jessie and Flo. Her sons-in-law, George Sehn and George Biggy Sr., and grandson Brian Sehn also predeceased her.
Edith always welcomed family and visitors with open arms and her loving nature will be greatly missed.
