Ed Frost

d. March 22, 2019

Our wonderful husband, brother, father and friend Charles Edward Frost passed away in the early morning of March 22 after a short but intense battle with the last stages of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years Laura Susan Frost

(nee Lemieux) and his children Kenneth Raymond (Patti-kris) Frost

and Aimee Louise Frost (Peter Debreceni) as well as his grandchildren Harry and Hannah Debreceni-Frost. He was predeceased by his daughter Frances Carol Frost in 2001. He is also survived by his sisters Margaret (Al) Fouts, Elizabeth Richards (partner John Clarke), Jennie Frost and Jean Frost (John Shaw, deceased) and by many nieces and nephews.

Ed was a third generation Edmontonian and only son of Elizabeth Annie (Cogswell) and Gordon Allin Williams (Bill) Frost. Ed graduated from Scona High in Edmonton in 1961 and attended the University

of Alberta where he received a BA in 1964 and a LLB in 1968.

In 1964-65 he spent nine months in Europe and North Africa, living off his savings from his paper route. When he returned, he decided to study law and was admitted to the bar in 1969. Ed was a talented runner who ran the mile (4:20.2) and half-mile (2:06.4) and the marathon in well under 3 hours. He enjoyed cross-country running and participated in many road races as well as the Banff-Jasper, Kananaskis and Yukon Relays. His other great love was the mountains where he hiked and skied with family and friends starting in 1962. Ed and Laura retired to Canmore in 2010 and Ed joined the Canmore Golf Club where he worked on his handicap and enjoyed playing in the Men's Senior League. Ed was a quiet kind man with a talent for funny one-liners who relished competition and the camaraderie of the running community especially the Edmonton Olympic and Chasquis Running Clubs.

There was a gathering of friends and family on Sunday, April 7, 2019

at the Canmore Nordic Centre. A celebration of his life is planned in August in Edmonton.

In lieu of flowers, friends are encourage to make donations, in Ed's memory, to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (https://cpff.ca/)
