Dorothy (Dieuwke) Bell (nee de Beer) was born on February 3, 1944 in Oosternijkerk, the Netherlands. She was born the 10th of
13 children to Anne de Beer and Dirkje de Beer (nee Visser).
Her family immigrated to Canada in 1955.
She eventually met George Bell and they married in May of 1966. Together they had 4 children: Diana, Cheryl, Cynthia and Darcy. Dorothy enjoyed working with her hands and spent many years laying floor covering. She also gutted and rebuilt the inside of her house and other projects such as building bookshelves and sewing any number of things for friends. Whatever she put her hands to was done with a spirit of excellence and the finished projects were very professional and beautiful. They reflected her dedication and skill.
Dorothy spent many hours working in her gardens which were a constant source of joy for her. Being outside in nature was something she enjoyed as was evident in her love of camping and hiking through the mountains. She got great pleasure spending time on her deck or balcony watching wildlife. She was rarely without a pair of binoculars in her hands.
Dorothy's life was focused on other people. Often her own needs came last or were even neglected so that others could be blessed with her time or resources. She spent many hours each day in prayer and communion with her Lord who was her whole life.
She quietly went to be with her Lord Jesus on October 23, 2014.
We will miss her
