Doreen Margaret Louise (nee Steventon) Carr passed away peacefully on December 26, 2010 after a long, valiant battle with breast cancer. Doreen is survived by Harold, her loving husband of 45 years, daughter Sherri (Dee) Chatani of Calgary, and sons Gordon (Lauren) of Lake Country, BC, and Craig (Ruth) of Prineville, Oregon, as well as grandchildren Matthew, Tysen, Tylee, Tanner, Everett, Maren, and Emery. Doreen will be sadly missed by her brothers Jack (Bev) of Red Deer, and Ted (Syl) of Calgary, as well as her mother- and father-in law Frank and Beryl Wilson and brother-in law Doug (Trudy) Wilson of Pilot Mound, Manitoba. She was pre-deceased by her father and mother Cyril and Margaret Steventon.
Doreen was born May 26, 1943 in Flin Flon, Manitoba, a place which remained in her heart throughout her life. Doreen was a caring, loving, and inspiring woman who succeeded as a professional dietician and hospital administrator while maintaining perfection in the role of mother and wife. She enjoyed quilting, bridge, and reading, and was often found on the ski hill and golf course. Doreen was fiercely proud of her children and grandchildren and could often be heard telling of their accomplishments to all who would listen. She was an eternal optimist for whom life was to be lived without hesitation and was concerned with giving to others more than caring for herself. She maintained this spirit to the end and will be sorely missed by all.
Her family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to her many friends and to the staff from Canmore Home Health Care who made her last year with us so much better.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, January 3, 2011, at Ralph Connor Memorial United Church, Canmore, with interment which followed at the Canmore Cemetery.
