In the early morning hours of Thursday, October 10, 2013, Donald Burns Wilband passed away peacefully, surrounded by the family he loved, in the Canmore Hospital after his personal struggle with cancer.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Anne; his daughter Tina (Al) Girard; granddaughter Samantha Hofman (Dave) and his brother Mark (Brenda) and sister Marlene (Lee) as well as his nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his father Don and mother Mary as well as his sister Agnes.
Don and Anne lived and raised their family in Exshaw where Don worked at Continental Lime plant for over 30 years. His nickname was "Bigsugar" which he loved! After he stopped working, he loved going to have coffee at Exshaw store and visit with his friends
We want to send a special thank you to Dr. Mark Hawkins and the nurses and staff at Canmore hospital for taking such good care of Don. A special thank you to Rodger and Tony who helped out a lot. Also to Janet, Rick, Reinhardt, Sharon, Heather, Doug, Stan, Sandy, Jeremy, Tom, Kevin, Pete and Donna as well as many others!
We all appreciate everything you have done for us. Thank you.
As was Don's wish, cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 in the Bow River Lodge
in Canmore.
