A kind-hearted, generous, and hard working soul has passed
from this earth. Dennis Arthur Gibson died peacefully early Saturday, December 21st at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary.
He was deeply loved and will be forever remembered by Una, his wife of 63 years. The world's best Dad will be missed by his daughter, Denise, of Calgary, his son, Jeff, and daughter-in-law, Maggie, in Edmonton, plus Scott in Nelson, BC and Samantha in Edmonton. A life long resident of Alberta, Dennis was born in Camrose, and lived most of his life in St. Albert before retiring to Canmore. Dennis was a recipient in 2004 of the Governor General's Caring Canadian Award and always willing to help others. He tried to make the world a better place.
Dennis was the second youngest of nine children, and his sole surviving sister, Millie, of Yahk, BC, remembers her brother fondly. Dennis is also mourned by numerous friends and extended family members who will miss the vibrant individual who loved hiking and skiing in the Canadian Rockies. Finally, 'Poppa' gets to see Benjamin, his grandson, again; they're sure to be playing hide and seek in Heaven's playground.
The family would like to thank the Colonel Belcher Veteran's CareWest for the care they provided to Dennis while he struggled with Alzheimer's disease.
A Celebration of Life, gathering of friends and family was held
on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the Royal Canadian Legion,
Branch 264, 2nd floor - 1918 Kensington Road NW, Calgary.
