Dean passed away peacefully at the Canmore Hospital, with his family at his side in the morning hours of Saturday, February 1, 2014. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Pearl on December 22, 2013

Dean is survived by six of his seven children: Connie (Ted) Williams; Susan (Jonas ) Hegelstad; Don (Kelly) Marshall; Foster (Heather) Marshall; Blain (Lynda) Marshall and David (Tracy) Marshall. He was predeceased by his son Curtis Marshall in 1990. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren and many great and great-great grand children, nieces and nephews.

Dean was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, August 16, 1926. His family moved to Edson when he was young where he attended school, played hockey, and played his guitar in an orchestra at many dances for many years. He met Pearl, the love of his life at the age of 12 while he attended Edson School. He has been stationed by the military in Oakville, ON when he was 17 years old. Dean and Pearl were married December 10, 1948 in Oakville. They moved back west where he worked in the Edson area for Erith Tie Company. In 1954 Dean and Pearl moved to Sundre where he worked with Mjolsness brothers, Spray Lake Sawmill. While there he coached youth hockey.

In 1962 Dean moved his family to Canmore to be closer to his work. Dean and Pearl loved the community of Canmore. Their family became active in community events. He became a consultant and teacher of Forestry Practices in Reforestation, Erosion Control and other Forestry related topics. He loved his work with Spray Lake Sawmill and retired in 1988.

Dean touched many lives and left a profound memory with everyone he met. Everyone was special to him. He has left a legacy of love and integrity and is walking the Streets of Gold.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Andrew Reed for his awesome care, compassion, love and guidance to Dean and family members for many years. Thanks also to all the physicians, nurses and staff at the Canmore Hospital. We will always remember the excellent care given to both Dean and Pearl.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8, 2014

in St. Michael's Anglican Church, Canmore. Interment took place

in the Canmore Cemetery where Dean was laid to rest,

forever to be with his beloved Pearl.

In lieu of flowers, Dean has requested a donation be made to the Canmore and Area Health Care Foundation,

1100 Hospital Place, Canmore T1W 1N2

dedicated for use in the Golden Eagle View Care Centre,

or to the charity of the donor's choice.
