It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dave on Thursday evening in Canmore. Dave is survived by his wife Renée and his children Geoffrey and Kirsten. He is also survived by his parents Milford and Annette, brothers Lindsay, (sons Braden and Stefan), and Alan (Fred).

Dave was born in Outlook, Saskatchewan and later moved with his family to Lethbridge for high school and university. He worked in Taber for many years before moving to Canmore, with his wife and young family in 2002, to become editor of the Canmore Leader newspaper. He also worked at the Stoney Nakoda Casino and the Husky at Deadmans Flats. He thoroughly enjoyed his recent work at the Bow Valley Crag & Canyon newspaper as a freelance reporter because he loved meeting and talking with people.

A memorial service celebrating Dave's life was held on Monday, June 30, 2014 at St. Michael's Anglican Church Hall, Canmore, AB.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to remember Dave may consider making donations to a memorial fund created for Dave's children at the Canmore Scotiabank (Renee Husdal in trust for Geoffrey and Kirsten), or a charity of your choice..
