Darwin was taken away too quickly in the early morning hours on Wednesday due to a stroke. He is survived by his wife Kelly, his daughter Samantha Anne, his parents Ralph and Leatrice, his sister Valerie (Richard) Wiens, and his brother Brent as well as his niece Kayla and nephew Scott and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Darwin's biggest loves of his life, next to his family, were the Calgary Flames and Budweiser beer. He was a very caring and soft spoken man. He worked at LaFarge for over 30 years but had to go on disability in the past couple of months. He missed being at work and would listen to the two way radio so he could hear what was going on at the plant.
Darwin and Kelly have always lived by these words.
"In a World Where you Can Be Anything, Be Yourself."
Kelly loved him for who he was, accepted him for being himself, and loved him with everything she had.
Always Missed but Never Forgotten
A memorial gathering to remember Darwin was held on Friday, February 22, 2013 in the Exshaw Community Hall.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to remember Darwin may make donations, in his memory, to the charity of their choice.
The family wish to express their extreme thanks to the Exshaw Fire and Rescue and the paramedics for their professionalism and assistance when called. Also sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Canmore Hospital and Cancer Treatment Center for their ongoing support and friendship throughout Darwin's treatments.
Services provided by Russ Reynolds and Bow River Funeral Service.
