Our loving wife, sister, and friend, Corin Murphy, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2018, at the age of 57. With courage, strength, and determination, she remained positive throughout
her illness.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 25 years, Lee Weiss;
sister, Shannon Murphy; brother, Craig Murphy; niece, Arianna
Murphy-Steed; Aunt Phyllis Barnes (née Reed); father-in-law,
Larry Weiss; brother–in-law, Lyle Weiss and sister-in-law,
Renae Weiss; nephews Cobey, Bodee, and Ryker; and many
loving cousins and friends.
Corin was predeceased by her father, C. Graham Murphy;
her mother, Patricia Thompson (née Reed); her step- father,
Gordon Thompson; and her mother-in-law, Linda Weiss (née Yanke).
Corin will be fondly remembered as a quick-witted raconteur, gifted with the ability to tell a great story with both humour and pathos. As an
accomplished classical guitarist, she had an eclectic appreciation for music and loved attending concerts with her husband. Throughout her life, she enjoyed adventuring in the Rocky Mountains, ocean sailing, and scuba diving with the sea lions. She created a lovely home and was happy cooking a gourmet meal, reading a good book, and walking her beloved dogs, Skipper and Rowdy. In the summertime, one of her greatest pleasures was swimming at 'the lake'.
A dedicated worker and practical thinker, Corin worked in retail management in Calgary before moving to the Bow Valley to
manage the Banff Book and Art Den. She then worked as the
Personnel and Accounting Administrator for Environment and Parks
at the Canmore Nordic Centre.
Corin's family would like to thank the Emergency, Palliative and Homecare Teams at the Canmore Hospital and Dr. Christa McPherson.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation,
in Corin's name, to the Bow Valley SPCA, 123 Bow Meadows Cres, Canmore, AB T1W 2W8.
At Corin's request, a private celebration of her life will be held
at a later date.
