Clifford James Doering passed away peacefully in the Canmore Hospital after a lengthy and hard fought battle with cancer on
August 15, 2017 at the age of 73.
Cliff was born on September 22, 1943 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and is survived by his wife Janette; children Marnie Coulson (Bill) and Cori Doering; stepdaughter Winona Wensel; Grandchildren Megan Hoffman (Dean Medernach), Krystle Hoffman (Jordan Upton), Ashley Brown (Brent Beaumont) and Cassandra Brown (Dan Watson);
and his sisters Elsie Foster, Evelyn Wells (Bill), Sharon Peters
and Lindi Conti. He was preceded in death by his parents Amelia
and Ralph Hawkins and brothers Clarence Doering, Corby Fox
(previously known as Doug Doering) and Donald Doering.
Cliff was a small business owner in Canmore for most of his life and was also an active member in the Canmore Lions Club for many years. He was a proud man with a strong work ethic, who was happiest working on his various trucks or driving to the many places that his lengthy career as a local truck driver took him. He loved meeting the people on the sites, and through his work and involvement in the Lions Club he developed many special friendships. His constant smile, love for his family and quick wit, especially his witty criticism of curlers and the Stampeders will truly be missed.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to remember Cliff are encouraged to please donate to the Canmore and Area Health Care Foundation,
1100 Hospital Place, Canmore, dedicated to Cancer Care, Community Care or Palliative Care Funds, in his memory. We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Quinlan and the staff at the Canmore Hospital, especially Alana. Your kindness, genuine care and concern, and humor that got Grandpa smiling in the final days, was so greatly appreciated not only by us, but Grandpa as well and will never be forgotten. You truly are a Saint in Grandpa's eyes.
A Celebration of Life and gathering of friends and family was held on Thursday, August 24 at the Three Sisters Branch #3, Royal Canadian Legion, Canmore.
