Clara Bank (Nee Mcleod)

d. December 27, 2012

Our devastating loss of Clara occurred on December 27, 2012.

Following a brief illness, she was welcomed into the arms

of The Lord.

Clara was born on September 25, 1934 in Dauphin, Manitoba. She attended teachers' college and taught for a short time. Clara married Adam Bank on September 5, 1959 in Winnipeg, where they established a successful business. Their daughter, Leah, was born in 1963.

Through the years, Clara developed her skills as a talented and accomplished business woman. Clara's first concern in business, as in her life, was the welfare of others. She loved people and helping in any way she could. Clara's kindness and respect for others was evident in her daily interactions. She believed that if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing well. Clara was very creative, and was talented in many areas including sewing and quilting, flower arranging, and cooking.

Clara worked at Lake Louise in her early years and loved hiking, horseback riding, and travelling. She enjoyed visiting many regions of North America.

Her love for the mountains drew her to settle in Canmore, Alberta in 1991, where she established The Sugar Pine Company, Canmore's sewing and quilting shop. She operated this award-winning business with her family for the past 18 years. Clara's involvement in various community activities allowed her to connect with the people of Canmore and make it her home.

Clara was blessed with wisdom and with strength. She deeply loved and valued her family. She is survived by her husband Adam Bank, daughter Leah Murphy (Dean), granddaughter Jenna, and sisters Fern Smorang (Carl), Betty Ann Graydon (Richard), Sandra McLeod, Gordiena McLeod Towns (Gregg). She was predeceased by her sister Beryl Roque and nephew Gordon McLeod. Clara is very loved and missed by all of us and will be in our thoughts often.

A memorial service was held on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Canmore Golf Club.
