Brian Wright

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Brian David Wright in Canmore, Alberta. He is survived by Peggie, his wife of 47 years,

his two sons Patrick (Jeanne) and Christopher (Jackie), and his

three grandchildren Josephine, Johnny, and Isabelle. In addition

to his immediate family he is survived by his brother Robert (Lyanne), sister-in-law Pat (Greg), his four nieces and nephews, and

seven grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Brian was born in Montreal, QC and grew up in Lachine. He met the love of his life Peggie at Lachine High School in 1966 and they became inseparable. They were married on September 16th, 1972.

He attended McGill University and graduated in 1973 with degrees in

Physics and Physical Oceanography, with a specialty in ice formation

in the St. Lawrence river. In 1973 he took a job in Davos, Switzerland to study avalanches in the Swiss Alps and there he fell in love with the mountains. In 1974 he took a job in Calgary with Gulf Canada working on and managing various Arctic Offshore Oil Exploration teams, often travelling to the Canadian Arctic until 1992 when he started the consulting firm B. Wright & Associates Ltd.

Brian and Peggie moved to Canmore in 1999 where he continued his career working on Arctic Offshore projects around the world until his semi-retirement in 2018.

Brian enjoyed skiing and hiking, and was an avid fisher. He was never happier than when off somewhere in the Rockies with his fly rod and a pair of hip waders. Never one to sit still, he spent his free time coaching his boys in hockey and baseball. When the boys had left the home, he and Peggie built their second dream home on the shores of Bonavista Bay. They restored a historic property in the town of Bonavista and spent evenings watching icebergs in the bay.

He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all of those whose lives he touched.

The family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Kirk and the staff at Canmore Ridgeview Medical Clinic, the Canmore Hospital, and the Bow Valley Home Care Services for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Brian are encouraged to make a donation, in his memory, to the charity of your choice.
