Bob Kinash

d. October 24, 2013

On Thursday, October 24, 2013, Robert (Bob) Victor Kinash passed away peacefully at the age of 70 years surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer that he bore with great courage, strength and grace. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Steve and Anne Kinash, his father and mother-in-law Alex and Simone Lagimodiere; his two brothers-in-law Denis Lagimodiere and Larry Duret.

Bob will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife, Rose; his daughter Teresa (Charlie) Sterling of Weyburn, Sask; his son Jason (Marcia) Kinash of Canmore and their sons Sonny and Jude; his brother Dave (Glennys) Kinash; his sister Pat (Ross) Carmen; sisters and brothers-in-law: Dexter Lagimodiere, Gisele and Raymond Desjardins, Carmen and Denis Charlebois, Diane Duret, Rene and Clemence Lagimodiere. Also warmly remembering him will be numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan on August 14, 1943 and spent his early years in Moosomin, Saskatchewan. In 1968, Bob graduated from the U of S with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.

Bob and Rose were married in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in

April 1968. They lived in Regina for a few months prior to moving

to Weyburn, Saskatchewan where they settled and raised

their two children. Bob worked for Municipal Grid Road Authority until 1976 when he joined the City of Weyburn as City Engineer,

until his retirement in 2004.

During his engineering career Bob served on many Boards including the Board of Directors of the Association of Professional Engineers of Saskatchewan and The Saskatchewan Public Works Association; in 1999 Bob was recognized by the American Public Works Association as one of the top ten public works leaders in North America. In 2003, Bob received the Saskatchewan Public Works Association Person of the Year Service Award and received a SUMA Meritorious Award to recognize his many years of service. Bob was a long time member and Past President of the Weyburn Young Fellows Club and also served as a Director on the Weyburn & District Hospital Foundation.

Bob enjoyed family, travel, wood working, reading, playing cards; he loved the outdoors: fishing, camping, hiking, being at the White Bear Lake cabin, water volleyball, playing and officiating at Pickleball; he enjoyed flying and got his private pilot's license in 1980. He was able to repair, design and build almost anything. For the last several years, Bob and Rose spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona. He will be sorely missed by his many Weyburn and Mesa Regal friends.

In June, 2013 Bob and Rose moved to Canmore, Alberta to be closer to their grandchildren, Sonny & Jude. Bob was extremely proud of his family and would do anything for them. He was kind, generous, loving and will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by both family and friends. He has left us with many happy memories and an empty place in our hearts.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Community Care Program staff, Dr. Mark Hawkins and the nurses and staff in Acute Care at the Canmore Hospital.

Your care and respect for Bob will never be forgotten.
