It is with sad and heavy hearts we announce the passing of William Thomas Baillie, our "legendary" Blue Baillie. On April 3, 2020
his battle with cancer was over, he fought the good fight until the end. He was always optimistic and was sure he would beat this because if anyone could, we know its him.
Blue had such a big heart and genuinely cared for everyone that was in his life. Most importantly, he loved to share with anyone who would listen all, well most, of his wild and crazy stories of life in Banff, and later Canmore, since the 70's.
Blue moved to Banff and soon became a successful business owner when he took over the Spoke N' Edge in 1979 with his father Glen.
This aided him in being able to live his life to fullest, many back country trips and not to mention all the skiing the family put in on the slopes. Unfortunately the shop had to close its doors in the 90's following his stroke. He became much stronger when finally overcoming his battle with addiction. He did however very much enjoy his life of leisure that followed, cruising the Bow Valley on his unforgettable bike, being sort of a moving landmark for the long time locals and residents, not to forget a smile that could light up any room.
He is sadly leaving his legacy to his daughter Vanessa Baillie and two grandsons Eric and Alexander (middle names being Blue Baillie), his father Glen Baillie and brothers Larry and Norm. Not to forget all his nieces and nephews which he loved so dearly. Of course a very special mention to the entire Craig family. Blue was exceptionally close with Ken Sr. and Kenny for many decades. He cherished and appreciated the family and everything they have done for him.
Rest in Peace Blue Baillie, we all love you and will miss
your bright light in our lives.
If anyone would like to contact Blue's daughter,
with stories or anything at all, you may do so by email first at vanessabaillie18@gmail.com.
We will hopefully be having a celebration of life in the Bow Valley
in the summer.
