Bill Wakaryk

William John Nicholas Wakaryk passed away in Canmore on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the age of 72 years. Bill was born in Banff and married Carney Raitz in Leduc in 1964.

Bill graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the U of A in 1967. He began and ended his career with Mobil Oil and spent the mid years as a consultant world wide to the oil and gas industry. He was a member of APEGGA and the Knights of Columbus. As a member of the Ukrainian-Canadian Professional and Business Club in Calgary, Bill was able to reconnect with his Ukrainian heritage of which he was so proud.

Bill is survived by his wife Carney; daughter and son-in-law Kathryn and Dr. Paul Predki of Carlsbad, CA; son Jason and his girlfriend Sandra Anonson of Calgary. Bill's love for his granddaughters had no end for Kayla Predki and her husband Elliott Schultz; Taryn Predki and Lauren Predki all of Carlsbad, CA. As well, Bill is survived by his brother Edwin and sister Elizabeth Child; brothers and sisters -in-law Philip Raitz ; Ronald and Urmila Raitz; Dan and Karen Raitz; nieces and nephews Jennifer Raitz, Christine Raitz, Amar Mohabir, Dr. Nadira Mohabir, Stephen Raitz, Allison Raitz, Lisa Bouzan and Conal Child. Bill was predeceased by his brother Wayne.

A prayer vigil was held on Thursday, March 8 at Our Lady of the Rockies Catholic Church, 810 – 7th Street, in Canmore. Funeral Mass was held at the same location on Friday, March 9.
