Betty Schmalz

Betty passed away in Banff on Saturday, April 22, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband Kaspar in January 2017; her parents Harold (1977) and Charlotte (1999).

Betty will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her sister Sheila (Klaus) Mayer and family; brother Alan (Frieda) Feather

and family; Kaspar's sisters Rose Schmalz and Alice Frazer

and his nieces and nephews.

Betty was born and raised on a farm near Grenfell, Saskatchewan.

As a young woman, she started her hairdressing career in Regina then moved to Banff in the 1950's, where she opened and operated her own salon for many years. She then worked at the Banff Park Lodge salon for some years. Until recently, she continued to style hair for patients at the hospital and other clients.

Cremation has taken place. Betty and Kaspar will be laid to rest together back home in Saskatchewan.

The family would like to thank the staff at Banff Mineral Springs Hospital for their care of Betty during her brief stay and also to Betty's many friends who helped her in her times of need.
