Tuesday, October 25, 2022 Eric passed on peacefully in Banff, Alberta.
Eric's life was one that always reflected love, kindliness and accomplishment. He developed a love for popular culture from an early age, especially jazz and swing music, and film. He pursued these interests into a long career in media, most notably with the CBC and the National Film Board of Canada. In all areas of his personal and professional life, he established enduring friendships and affection with everyone he met.
In later years, Eric retired and returned to his lovely home and community in Victoria, BC, where he engaged in a variety of organizations as a volunteer, including as a founding member of The Friends of Government House Gardens Society. He received a Jubilee Medal from Queen Elizabeth II in 2002 for his contributions to this project. Other favorite projects were Vic High and Craigdarroch Castle Alumni Associations, and the Palm Court Light Orchestra.
Eric was predeceased by Kathleen (nee MacMillan), his beloved wife and partner of more than 64 years. He is survived, and will be remembered with much love, by his children Robert, Michael (Marie-Lyse), Margaret (Ken), and granddaughters Kate and Sarah.
Many thanks to the Doctors at the Bear Street Family Physicians clinic in Banff and the Nurses at the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital for their compassionate care. Thanks also to everyone who helped to care for Dad during his stay in the Bow Valley.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Friends of Government House Gardens Society (fghgs.ca) or Our Place Society (ourplacesociety.com) in Victoria, BC.
